Rosa chinensis, Rose
Rosa chinensis is a species of Rosa in the family Rosaceae, native to central China in Guizhou, Hubei and Sichuan. This rose is commonly known as China Rose, and widely cultivated in China as ornamental plants. Rosa chinensis is a vigorous shrub growing up to 2 m tall. It has pinnate leaves with 3-5 leaflets. Each leaflet is 2.5-6 cm long and 1-3 cm wide. Flowering begins in May and it produces semi double or doubled five-petaled flowers in vibrant shades of pink to red, white and purple. This is followed by red hips, 1-2 cm in diameter. The flowers and hips of Rosa chinensis are used in traditional Chinese medicine in treatment of irregular or painful menstruation, and swollen thyroid. ![]() Rosa chinensis Author: A.
