Rosa gallica is a species of Rosa in the family Rosaceae. It is native to central and southern Europe. Rosa gallica is also known as Gallic Rose, French Rose, or Rose of Provins.
Rosa gallica is a deciduous, low suckering shrub with prickly stems and glandular bristles. It bears pinnate leaves with 3-7 bluish-green leaflets. The fragrant, five-petaled flowers usually come in a cluster of 1-4, in very pale pink to deep burgundy violet color. Rosa gallica is once blooming in mid summer for about 3-4 weeks. The orange to brownish hips are globose to ovoid, 10-13 mm diameter.

Rosa gallica is an easy to grow rose. It grows well in full sun to partial shade, and well-drained soil. It is susceptible to black spot and mildew.
