Rosa gymnocarpa is a species of Rosa in the family Rosaceae. It is native to western North America. It is also known by the common names wood rose, baldhip rose, and dwarf wild rose. The term gymnocarpa means bare fruit.

Rosa gymnocarpa is a deciduous arching shrub growing up to 2 meters tall, usually found in mixed open forests. It has prickly stems and bears small, fragrant, pale lavender to dark pink flowers from May to July. This species of rose has five sepals and five petals and is about 3 cm wide. Its fruit is a red, pear-shaped hip, 6-10 mm in diameter, and persist throughout the winter. The hip is a food source for small mammals, birds, and insects.
